    PBX/Telephone Operator - Part time 20-24 hours per week


    Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing quality healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities.

    Aiken Regional Medical Centers has been ranked a top hospital in South Carolina by the Carolina Center for Medical Excellence for its treatment of heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia.

    Services provided at the hospital include emergency medical care, orthopedic surgeries, maternity, and behavioral health services.

    Position Summary:


    PBX/Telephone Operator is responsible for handling all incoming calls through the switchboard, serves as a resource for information, locates physicians and hospital associates and assists with the communication element of all emergency codes and alarms throughout the facility and the Aurora Pavilion.

    Stays in 24 hour contact with the Security Officers via two-way radios. Sorts incoming and outgoing mail, and completes the midnight census.


    Duties:

    • Answers incoming calls promptly (within 5 beeps).
    • Routes calls appropriately.
    • Serves as resource for information:
    • Handles basic information requests (meeting logistics, visiting hours, etc.)
    • Maintains up-to-date information on management team, physicians and hospital on-call teams.
    • Utilizes computerized fire alert system to follow protocol for announcing appropriate code and notifying fire department.
    • Follows hospital policy in communication of all codes.
    • Utilizes computer application (SMS, Document Imagining, Internet) to pull face sheets and billing documents for the following: Hospitalist, Wound Care, and CRNA.
    • Utilizes VOLO (AIMS) system as needed for activation of Incident command and Decontamination team as requested.
    • Follows BOS process for sorting and distribution of BOS Mail.
    • Performs various other duties assigned by manager.

    Qualifications


    Requirements:

    • High School Diploma required.
    • 1-2 years switchboard experience e required.
    • Must have excellent verbal communication skills and be able to work in a fast paced environment. Must also be able to handle difficult situations in a professional manner. Must be proficient in MS Office.
