    Description

    JOB SUMMARY

    • Surgical ICU is a critical care area with a diverse surgical population and unique procedures.
    • Experience stability in volumes, supportive leadership, great benefits, and varied committee opportunities.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • One year or more Critical Care or ICU RN experience.
    • Current Texas RN license or Compact State license with multistate privilege.
    • (BLS) & (ACLS) certification accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
    • Strong customer service skills, problem-solving, and sound judgement.
    • NIHSS & BSN preferred, weekend availability required.

    JOB DUTIES

    1. Conducts thorough assessments considering age-specific criteria.
    2. Develops care plans based on patient needs, utilizing critical thinking skills.
    3. Implements nursing interventions, coordinates care, and collaborates with the healthcare team.
    4. Prioritizes interventions, monitors patient condition changes, and involves patients and families in care decisions.
    5. Evaluates interventions, modifies care plans, and adheres to best nursing practices.
    6. Provides education to patients and families, ensuring understanding and competency.
    7. Welcomes and educates patients and families, encouraging participation in care.
    8. Advocates for patient safety, supports quality initiatives, and contributes to team development.
    9. Performs peer evaluations, supports performance improvement, and participates in practice improvement teams.

    Other Duties: Performs assigned tasks as needed.

    This position is subject to a background check as per Texas Education Code.
