    Job Description:

    Introduction:


    Microchip's Simsbury location, part of the Discrete Products Group (DPG), offers one of the industry's most comprehensive power and Radio Frequency (RF)/microwave discrete semiconductor product portfolios.

    The DPG encompasses two Business Units (BUs): the power discrete and modules BU and the RF/microwave discrete BU.

    These groups serve markets including alternative energy, industrial, medical, defense, commercial aviation, communications, embedded systems, motor control, power solutions, sensors and security.

    The products designed and manufactured in Simsbury are industry leading RF products such as:

    Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) components and modules.
    SAW dispersive delay line modules for RADAR pulse compression.
    Voltage Controlled SAW Oscillators (VCSO) with exceptionally low phase noise performance.


    Job Description:
    We are looking for an Operations Leader to coordinate and oversee our site's operations. The qualified candidate will have a technical degree plus experience as a leader in the manufacturing environment. A strong performer in this role has advancement opportunity within two years including site-wide operations management.

    Responsibilities


    In this role, you will direct production, maintenance operations, process & product engineering, test engineering, collaborate with other staff functions (quality, planning, supply chain, etc.,) to achieve plant cost, quality, and service objectives while meeting all safety, health, and environmental requirements.

    As Operations Leader you are looked to for guidance and direction by all operations personnel in your assigned facility.

    Your job is to lead, coach, mentor, influence your operations team to meet site and organization goals while aligning to the Microchip Guiding values .

    Utilize lean enterprise principles to meet safety, lead time, cost and quality outcomes set by the Operations Manager.
    Collect and analyze data to identify opportunities and issues that impact the expected performance outcomes.
    Manage daily operations workflow to ensure the production schedule is met while meeting quality expectations.
    Interface with engineering and quality teams to resolve daily production issues and execute continuous improvement projects.

    Work closely with supply chain and value stream planning to review supply needs, material shortages, and manage appropriate inventory levels.

    Supervise and develop the operations team.
    Foster a culture of empowerment, responsibility and ownership in line with Microchip's Guiding Values


    Requirements/Qualifications:
    Engineering degree with a minimum of 5-10 years' experience in managing manufacturing operations
    Lean enterprise knowledge, focused factory concepts a plus
    Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks and deal with pressure from a fast paced, dynamic daily production schedule
    Experience with project management
    Strong verbal and written communication skills
    Ability to problem-solve and collaborate with employees and management.
    Strategic thinker with strong planning/tactical skills, sense of urgency, focus on measurable results and ability to get things done.
