- Performs general and detailed repair of all heavy equipment, engines and components.
- Diagnoses and troubleshoots machine and engine malfunctions and failures.
- Keeps knowledge up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.
- Uses safe working practices and follows all company safety requirements.
- Maintains a clean and organized work area.
- Performs maintenance activities on new and rebuilt/repaired equipment.
- Makes recommendations as to repairs meeting warranty criteria.
- Make parts replacement decisions assuring optimum economic reusability.
- Performs duties as assigned.
- Runs diagnostics using computer.
- Respects coworkers.
- Knowledge of the methods and procedures used in servicing and repairing gasoline and diesel engines.
- Knowledge of vehicle and equipment mechanics, including combustion engines and hydraulic and electrical systems and air brakes.
- Knowledge of safety standards for motor vehicles and equipment.
- Knowledge of State vehicle inspection standards.
- Basic Welding ability.
- Ability to keep company proprietary information confidential.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic computer skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work successfully with a wide variety of people at different levels within the organization.
- Detail orientated with strong organizational skills.
- High School Diploma or GED with graduation from an accredited technical school in diesel engine or earthmoving repair preferred.
- Two years in heavy equipment, engine or electric power generation system repair including diesel mechanic experience.
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- PA Inspection License
- GFS Heavy Equipment Operator Certification.
