Graduate Nurse Residency Program

The Middlesex Hospital Nurse Residency Program is a National program formed jointly by the Vizient and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). It is designed to support new graduate nurses as they transition into their professional roles as caregivers in the acute care hospital setting.

The program is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as an Accredited Practice Transition Program, with Distinction for Med/Surg Nursing. This ANCC accreditation validates hospital residency programs that transition registered nurses into new practice settings.

To be certified, programs must meet rigorous, evidence-based standards for quality and excellence.

Graduates of this 1 year residency program can expect:

Experience 1:1 preceptorship for the first 12 weeks;
Attend monthly seminars;
Develop organizational, interpersonal and critical thinking skills;
Actively participate in unit activities and nursing councils;
Complete an evidence- based practice project;
Much more.

Eligibility:

Bachelors degree in Nursing received from an accredited nursing program;
Eligible to obtain Connecticut Licensure within the first three months of graduation;

The Graduate Nurse Residency Program has multiple tracks available:

General Medicine;
General Surgery;
Telemetry;
Orthopedics;
Inpatient Psych;
Med/Surg: Comfort Care;
Oncology;
Float Pool (Specialty departments to be determined).
