    Paralegal

    Knoxville, Tennessee

    $50,000 + DOE

    One of Knoxville's oldest and top law firms is seeking an experienced Paralegal with insurance defense experience to join their growing firm. This firm has over 60 years of experience supporting East Tennessee. This is an opportunity to grow and excel in your legal career with some of the top award-winning lawyers in the area.

    The Paralegal will be responsible for the following:

    • Assisting attorneys in all aspects of litigation
    • Opening and organizing large volumes of file materials from inception and closing
    • Updating pleadings, indexes, and creating additional files as the case evolves
    • Preparing and maintaining medical notebooks, reviewing and summarizing medical records
    • Index deposition transcripts
    • Draft pleadings and discovery; working with clients to finalize drafts and exhibits for attorney review.
    • Scheduling and maintaining attorney calendars and deadlines
    • Preparing and serving subpoenas
    • Interacting with corporate clients on a daily basis to facilitate timely case progress
    • Legal and litigation searches
    • Attending and assisting witness meetings to prepare witnesses for depositions and trials.

    The Paralegal will excel with the:

    • Paralegal Studies degree or equivalent work experience
    • Knowledge of operations, practices, and procedures of insurance defense
    • Requires critical thinking skills, superior communication skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Must be oriented and very attentive to detail
    • Requires the ability to track and meet deadlines consistently
    • Self-motivation, dependability, flexibility, energy, and hardworking
    • Willingness to learn
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and knowledge and application of legal research tools (LexisNexis Advance, PACER, etc.)

    The Paralegal will be rewarded with

    • $50,000 + DOE Annual Salary dependent on experience
