Located in one of the most breathtaking areas on the Oregon coast, Sunset Bay State Park boasts stunning sandy beaches shielded by towering sea cliffs. The campground offers tent camping, RV sites, and comfortable yurts. Day-use and picnic facilities along the bay provide easy access to beachcombing, fishing, swimming, and boating.

    What is a Seasonal Park Ranger?

    We hire Seasonal Park Rangers annually for the peak period between April and September when visitors flock to our beautiful parks. Although the duration of seasonal positions may vary slightly from park to park, each park presents a unique experience.

    What you will do:

    Assist year-round State Park staff in safeguarding, maintaining, operating, and repairing state park lands, natural and cultural resources, structures, facilities, equipment, and systems. Park Ranger Assistants usually perform basic tasks in a specific area of park operations (e.g., janitorial work, landscaping, interpretation, or visitor services), with some positions involving tasks across various areas. Certain tasks may require basic skills in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, painting, and landscaping. Additionally, proficiency in fundamental park maintenance and operations may be necessary. Park Ranger Assistants may supervise the work of volunteers, seasonal, and/or temporary state park employees on specific assignments.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Six (6) months of experience (paid or unpaid) in public contact or customer service roles (e.g., Teacher, Customer Service Representative, Salesperson, Receptionist, etc.) and/or maintenance experience (e.g., construction trades, landscaping, custodial, etc.);

    OR

    • Six (6) months of college in any discipline (24 quarter hours/16 semester hours)

    Special Requirements:

    • To be considered, you must pass criminal records and driving records checks meeting OPRD Criteria at hiring and throughout employment.
    • You must hold a valid driver's license at hiring and throughout employment.
