    Job Summary:A Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), also known as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT), is a highly trained professional responsible for performing complex laboratory tests that help healthcare professionals diagnose and treat diseases.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Sample Collection and Processing: Collect various specimens from patients, such as blood, urine, or tissues. Prepare and process specimens for analysis.
    • Laboratory Testing: Perform a range of complex tests using specialized equipment in areas like hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and molecular biology.
    • Analyze test results and interpret findings.
    • Quality Control: Monitor and ensure the accuracy and precision of laboratory equipment. Conduct routine quality control checks.
    • Data Analysis and Documentation: Analyze and interpret test results. Maintain accurate records of procedures and results.
    • Instrumentation Maintenance: Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
    • Communication: Communicate test results to healthcare professionals. Collaborate with the healthcare team for effective patient care.
    • Adherence to Protocols: Follow established protocols, procedures, and safety guidelines. Adhere to regulatory requirements and standards.
    • Continuing Education: Commitment to ongoing learning and staying updated on advancements in laboratory science.
    • Compliance: Clinical Laboratory Scientists are responsible for ensuring compliance with CA DPH regulations and adhering to the rules and regulations of the assigned hospitals and/or clinics. This encompasses maintaining licensures, participating in required trainings, and overseeing tasks such as retrieving medical records to uphold regulatory standards.

    Qualifications:
    • Chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and blood gas experience required
    • California Dept. of Public Health (CDPH) License Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS)
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology
    • Proof of Current Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
    • 1-year of experience working in an acute care facility within the past 6 months preferred
    • Current CPR Card issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
    • Must have proof of MMR, Varicella vaccinations or titers.
    • Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 Months
    • Current Annual Health Clearance
    • Reliable source of transportation
    • Possible floating between facilities (separate days)
