**Position Summary:**

Forklift Operators use rolling stock equipment to move, organize and maintain the lumber supply by moving it from the green end stacker to the inventory sheds. Forklift Operators in the sawmill are also required to keep re-entry deck supplied with lumber and keep the lumberyard neat and orderly. This position involves climbing in and out of the forklift multiple times per shift to reposition lumber packs to ensure proper positioning and organized stacks.

**Key Responsibilities:**

Operate large industrial forklifts using hand and foot controls to safely maneuver and lift packs of lumber from the green end stacker to the inventory sheds

Work all shifts to ensure kilns are operating safely and at capacity, alert management of any safety or operational issues

Work with other lift truck operators and management to ensure proper and timely movement of lumber

Assist with spilled lumber by physically moving and lifting boards weighing 5 to 25 lbs, perform other clean up duties as required to maintain order and keep roadways clear of debris

Perform inspections and check sheets on industrial forklifts to ensure they are in good operating condition

Other duties as assigned

**Physical Requirements:**

The employee is required stand for the complete shift hrs) without assistance and have the ability to safely climb in and out of the forklift multiple times per day without assistance

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Must be able to safely navigate up and down grated stairways and catwalks and regularly required to walk, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl

Frequent exposure varying weather conditions, dust, vibration and high noise levels
