Perform duties providing for the care, supervision and instruction of a unit of residential students at the Kentucky School for the Deaf.

Conduct 15 minute bed checks to ensure student safety and whereabouts

Complete tasks on cleaning checklist

Decorate seasonally and provide homelike touches to the dorm

Teach students life skills to include appropriate dress for weather, eating habits, table manners, personal hygiene, cleanliness, daily chores, etc.

Plan and implement literacy activities to improve ASL skills and build English vocabulary

Interpret, explain and enforce school policies, regulations, dorm guidelines and rules

Adhere to and enforce behavior program/reward system

Physically escort students during transition periods

Perform other duties as assigned

ASL skills

This job classification is approved for the following shift premiums, in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(2), which are applied to the base salary:

Third shift: 15%
