About the Team
The AP Curriculum and Assessment Team at College Board (40+ staff)collaborates with colleagues across all aspects of the AP Program todevelop, manage, and deliver AP\'s 40+ courses in a wide variety ofsubject areas.
AP is a rigorous academic program built on thecommitment, passion, and hard work of students and educators fromsecondary schools and higher education.
AP provides willing andacademically prepared high school students with the opportunity to studyand learn at the college level.AP\'s Course Leads and Assessment Leadsensure that course curricula are aligned to higher educationexpectations and reflect the state of the art in the discipline,contribute to instructional resources and tools for teachers, anddevelop assessments that allow students in these courses to demonstratetheir mastery of course content and skills.
The English, WorldLanguages, and Arts department, which includes English Literature,English Language, Spanish Language, Italian Language, French Language,German Language, Japanese Language, Chinese Language, Latin, MusicTheory, Spanish Literature, and Art and Design (2-D, 3-D, and Drawing)is currently made up of 15 people supporting 14 courses in the APportfolio.
About the OpportunityAs the AP Spanish Language and Culture Assessment Lead you areresponsible for the quality and validity of all assessment content forthe AP Spanish Language and Culture exam.
The Director, AP Spanish Language and Culture Assessment Lead is theprimary point of contact in AP for all assessment content for AP SpanishLanguage and Culture collaborating closely with the AP Spanish Languageand Culture Course Lead (who leads curriculum development, guidesinstructional support, and reviews assessment content).
The AssessmentLead may provide assessment development support in other related subjectareas.The Assessment Lead is responsible for all item development andmanagement from authoring to administration; training and collaboratingwith subject-matter experts (SMEs), typically college professors andsecondary school teachers.
S/he/they train SMEs on assessmentdevelopment protocols, translates between academics and technicalexperts (psychometricians), and collaborates to develop formativeassessment materials and resources to support AP Spanish Language andCulture teachers worldwide.
In this role, you will:
Assessment Development and Scoring (85%)
Serve as the assessment leader for AP Spanish Language and Culture,the primary person responsible for assessment development for APSpanish Language and Culture
Be responsible for authoring/revising assessment content andtraining educator constituents to author assessment content,including selection of appropriate stimulus material, and applyingbest assessment practices
Lead the development and management of all assessment contentthrough iterative review stages with multiple internal and externalstakeholders, including the AP Spanish Language and Culture CourseLead, Assessment Production team, Test Development Committee, andthe Chief Reader
Be responsible for development of all assessment forms, ensuring theAP Exam development aligns with approved curricula and testspecifications
Conduct multiple face-to-face, weekend meetings, and virtualmeetings (during work week, evenings, or weekends) annually witheach of the committees within the Director\'s stewardship as well asother committee meetings in the discipline as needed
Lead the successful scoring of student AP Exams at the annualsc ring event in person and online-the \"AP Reading\"-and produce APReading publications materials for teacher and student use
Assessment Quality and Process (15%)
Contribute to current research and best practices related toassessment; participate in regular discussions with other APCurriculum & Assessment members on the current assessment standardsand practices to build a set of common, shared beliefs about AP\'sassessment directions within the larger educational and assessmentcommunity
Contribute to processes for efficient, high-quality assessmentdevelopment
Refine and improve question task models as well as exam design incollaboration with and aligned to other College Board initiatives
Monitor and improve exam validity, reliability, fairness, andquality, as well as reader reliability in accordance withestablished Program thresholds
Serve as a recognized and trusted resource within the community bycollaboration with the AP Course Lead in engagement with thecommunity to drive teacher satisfaction with the AP Spanish Languageand Culture Exam
About You
You have:
A Master\'s degree in Spanish Language or a directly related disciplineand knowledge of current trends in the discipline (required), although adoctorate in the discipline is strongly preferred
