    The RoleThe Lab Systems Engineer (LSE) reports to the Group Leader of Engineering Maintenance and Technical Support (EMTS) and directly supports the development and validation of current and future technologies within General Motors portfolio.

    The LSE is primarily responsible for specifying, sourcing, engineering, integrating, and safely commissioning test equipment within the lab. This role directly affects the quality, durability and performance of vehicles and related products developed by General Motors.
    This job is based in General Motors Warren Technical Center.

    The labs and results they produces are used by GMs growing team of engineers working on advanced vehicles, in support of the vision of a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion.

    The Lab Systems Engineer role is a good fit for a qualified individual who is interested in state-of-the-art technologies and testing methods, system-level integration, and has an interest in electronics, electrical power distribution, and test equipment.

    This role offers practical, hands-on product development experience.
    What You'll DoMaintain a technical focus on Electrical Engineering in support of the EMTs organization.
    Lead and support projects that specify, source, engineer, integrate, install, and commission new test equipment. Ensure management and stakeholders are aware of progress toward the goal of on-time delivery.

    Function as a subject matter expert in the G-Risk, G-Comply, Management of Change, and Contractor Safety Management processes as applicable to new test equipment commissioning.

    Design, development, and validation of test systems to support new test methods.

    Maintain awareness of the latest test equipment and technology, including commissioning, safe operating procedures, and maintenance requirementsMaintain awareness of the product forecast within the broader Product Development community.

    Ensure planning for the future as it relates to test equipment and related methods to ensure future products can be tested safely, on-time, and with quality.

    As needed, represent the laboratory within the broader Product Development communityProvide support for current test equipment, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and development of new test setups and configurations in support of new test requirements.
