- Serves as a Government Special Access Program (SAP) Security Officer (GSSO) in the development and implementation of SAP security procedures and operating policies.
- Provides oversight of Personnel Security for assigned program locations.
- Assists Program Security Officer (PSO) in the planning, directing, and operating security programs of SAP involving policies, standards, procedures, methods, devices, and techniques.
- Advises contractor management of the DoD M, National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM).
- Responsible for the program security including personnel, information, physical, and industrial security.
- Provides multi-discipline security guidance to military, government civilian and contractor personnel
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Requires Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 10% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
- Subsequent SPeD certifications required for this position include: Special Program Security Certification (SPSC).
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
