    The following replacement position is available for the school year:

    POSITION: Associate Principal of the Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center

    The Mt. Pleasant Public Schools is looking for a highly qualified instructional leader that has the ultimate responsibility for the position of Associate Principal for the Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center. This is a 227 day position.

    LOCATION: Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center
    REPORTS TO: Superintendent

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Required
    • Has a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, or related area, from an accredited college/university with training in secondary or CTE school administration, supervision, curriculum, and guidance
    • Meets the qualifications required to serve as a CTE Administrator as listed in the Michigan Administrative Code
    • Has a minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience in career and technical education programs.
    • Has the ability to obtain Michigan administrative certification.
    • Demonstrates a good work ethic and has high standards for work performance.
    • Demonstrated ability to maintain strict confidentiality and understands the effects it has on others.
    • Is professional, exercises tact, and responds well under pressure.
    • Has excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate multiple programs and services.
    • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, make decisions, and take responsibility for own decisions
    • Has proven success in working with parents and teachers.
    • Has knowledge of school improvement processes, best practices in instruction and assessment, and effective professional development programming.
    • Is willing to take additional training or classes to improve skills in position.
    • Is willing to become involved in the Mt. Pleasant community.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to work as part of a team at both the building and district level.
    Preferred
    • Has a valid Michigan teaching certificate with vocational certification.
    • One or more year of successful administrative experience
    • Experience with planning, implementing and evaluating a high school vocational technical programming.
    • Experience in planning, implementing and evaluating a CTE program.
    • Experience working with board of directors and industrial advisory boards.
    • Has experience using technology for teaching, learning, and managing work.
    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Supervise the daily operations and administration of the Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center programs.
    • Coordinate the efforts of Career and Technical Education within State and Federal mandates and guidelines.
    • Provide leadership in curriculum development and improvement at the Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center.
    • Serve as member of the administrative team for the building operations of Mt. Pleasant High School and Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center.
    • Responsible for the operations, budget and required fiscal and educational reports to the Michigan Department of Education.
    • Serve on the GI-Tec Consortium Board.
    • Maintain strong discipline and safe learning environment in the building, on school grounds, and, as appropriate, on school transportation.
    • Supervise, evaluate and make recommendations for hiring, discipline, or dismissal of vocational technical school personnel.
    • Coordinate all work-experience programs.
    • Coordinate with Mt. Pleasant High School Principal and administrators to facilitate collaborative operations with the non-vocational programs and staff.
    • Preparation of master schedules and maintenance of required pupil records.
    • Direct/monitor student accounting process for Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center.
    • Organize supervision of all extracurricular programs and activities for GI-Tec students.
    • Administer negotiated employee contracts.
    • Participate actively in district administrative leadership and consultation with Superintendent and other central administrators.
    • Prepare and deliver reports and information to the Mt. Pleasant Board of Education and the Gratiot Isabella Technical Education Center Consortium Board as requested.
    • Other duties as may be assigned.
    • Coordinate and be involved in recruitment, interviewing, recommending, supervising and evaluation of instructional and support staff.
    • Coordinate all work experience programs (work permits, co-op and work experience CTE and non-CTE.
    • Develop business/industry partnerships based on student and program needs
    • Coordinate and review work of all program advisory committees
    • Coordinate articulation agreements with educational institutions
    • Direct the completing of all necessary State & Federal forms and documents
    • Participate in professional organizations and activities to promote professional growth and update professional skills. `
    • Maintain current knowledge in career and technical education matters and policy
    • Seek special grants that relate to CTE
    • Oversee program management functions, new CTE programs, financial reports and data reports
    COMPENSATION: According to negotiated Master Agreement with the Mt. Pleasant Administrators Association.
