    Job Description

    Implement structured direct care for children's programs and provide a consistent environment of structure, guidance, and nurturance in the residential facility.

    Essential Functions:

    • Participate in Interdisciplinary Team meetings to meet children's physical, emotional, and social needs as outlined in each child's plan of service.
    • Have knowledge of Trauma Informed Care, Normalcy, Compassion Fatigue & Self-Care.
    • Provide an environment that stimulates self-confidence, trust, and felt safety.
    • Remain attentive to children's physical, emotional, and academic growth.
    • Utilize a trauma-informed approach to improve children's self-worth and teach problem-solving skills.
    • Foster a community environment that encourages children to practice resolving problems.
    • Set individual and group goals.
    • Facilitate discussions on group activities.
    • Recognize residents' strengths and successes.
    • Maintain awareness of residents' needs and adapt program changes accordingly.
    • Communicate resident-related information to other Direct Care Specialists.
    • Collaborate with Administrator, Case Manager, and Program Director.
    • Provide transportation to residents as needed.
    • Monitor and coordinate residents' activities, behaviors, and safety.
    • Administer prescription and non-prescription medication.
    • Emphasize resident safety through supervision and awareness.
    • Supervise and participate in daily activities with residents.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly living environment.
    • Report necessary repairs to Administrator or staff.
    • Attend training, staff meetings, and supervisory conferences.
    • Maintain client records and incident reports.
    • Perform other assignments and duties as requested.

    Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:

    A High School Degree or equivalent is required; some college or college degree is preferred.

    Age 21 or older to meet vehicle insurance requirements.

    Minimum one year of experience working with children in a therapeutic/residential setting or related experience.

    Must submit to pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens when directed.

    Required TB test within the past 12 months, showing employee is free of contagious TB.

    Submit to a criminal background check, FBI background check, and Texas HHS background check.

    Possess knowledge of child development, trauma, youth homelessness, abuse, and neglect issues.

    Effective communication and organizational skills.

    Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees and the community.

    CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Behavior Intervention certification must be current or obtained within 30 days of hire.

    Sufficient good health to properly perform duties.

    General Agency Requirements:

    Immediately report suspected child abuse/neglect.

    Maintain Licensing credentials and attend agency training as needed.

    Emphasize safety to minimize employee injury.

    Schedule:

    PRN Part-time schedule (M-F, Sat, Sun) 7:00am - 3:30pm; 3:00pm - 11:30pm; 11:00pm - 7:30am.
