    Duties: This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Office of Environmental Programs, Environmental Sciences Division, Biological and Social Sciences Branch in either Sterling, VA, Jefferson, LA, Camarillo, CA, Anchorage, AK, or remote location.

    This position is being advertised as both location negotiable after selection and with a duty station(s) of Sterling, VA, Jefferson, LA, Camarillo, CA, or Anchorage, AK with the option of telework. If applying to "negotiable after selection", your duty station will be based off your home address and you will be a full-time remote worker. Applying to a specific duty station allows telework a set number of day(s) per pay period, with supervisory approval.

    At the full performance level (GS-13) the major duties of this position include:
    • Oversight and support of studies, assessment, and policies associated with fisheries biological and managerial impacts resulting from offshore conventional and renewable energy and mineral exploration and development activities with respect to marine fish and shellfish.
    • Oversees the coordination, planning, budgeting, and execution of BOEM fisheries initiatives at the headquarters level.
    • Review Regional Studies Development Plans for fish and fisheries research.
    • Formulates, develops, and recommends national policies, standards, and procedures relating to fisheries research.
    • Develops project plans, statements of work, evaluates proposals, and monitors contractor performance on national scope projects.
    • Reviews various regional plans, policies, and stakeholder groups responsible for fisheries management research on a national and international level.
    The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework.

    Salary Information

    Sterling, VA:
    GS-13: $117,962 (Step 1) - $153,354 (Step 10)

    Camarillo, CA:
    GS-13: $120,246 (Step 1) - $156,323 (Step 10)

    Anchorage, AK:
    GS-13: $116,811 (Step 1) - $151,858 (Step 10).

    Jefferson, LA:
    GS-13: $103,409 (Step 1) - $134,435 (Step 10).

    Virtual Location: The GS-13 salary starts at $88,520 per year. First time hires normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

    Qualifications
    Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position, you must meet the Basic Educational Requirements AND Specialized Experience for the series you are applying for.

    (1) Basic Educational Requirements:

    A. Degree majoring in biological science including required semester hours in aquatic and animal sciences.

    B. Combination of education and experience equivalent to a major in biological science with specific semester hours in aquatic and animal sciences.

    (2) Specialized Experience:

    To qualify for the GS-13, you must possess specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or comparable experience, not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience includes designing and implementing research, preparing scientific analyses, and more related to the position.
