    Job Description:

    Assist the Asian Studies department chair in teaching an undergraduate course, building a website, and organizing a series of activities and resources designed to bolster UH student success in identifying and launching careers in Asia-Pacific-related fields.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist in teaching the new ASAN 305 Career Pathways in Asian Studies course in fall 2024
    • Assist in organizing a speaker series and career workshop events
    • Build a website to house resources for the Careers in Asia-Pacific Affairs initiative
    • Develop a strategy for publicizing these resources
    • Other relevant duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Asian Studies chair.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Full-time classified graduate student in good standing in Asian studies, Social Sciences, Humanities, Education, or related field with substantial coursework in Asia-related studies
    • Native or near-native fluency in English
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Demonstrated experience in website development and maintenance
    • Experience with basic graphic design and use of online design tools such as Canva
    • Experience in social media marketing
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision

    Desirable Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with the BA and/or MA programs in Asian Studies
    • Previous teaching (or teaching assistant) experience
    • Experience in event coordination
    • Strong organizational skills
