    Job DescriptionCNC Machinist - Weekend Shift

    Starting pay $22.00 an hour plus/based on experience.

    Position Summary

    Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as 3,4, 5 axis CNC machines, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup; uses a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds; measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points to lay out stock for machining; fits and assembles precision parts into mechanical equipment and determines material, parts, and equipment required. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures and certify/test product. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Know and follow general company and corporate policies and procedures.
    • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
    • Measures, marks, and scribes' dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
    • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, routers, and grinders.
    • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
    • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
    • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
    • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
    • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.
    • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.
    • Installs machine replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
    • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
    • Report to work on time, good regular attendance, follow instructions from supervisor or management, interact well co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures.
    • Crossing training into other various departments
    • Other various duties as needed or as assigned.

    Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    • 6 months or more minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Computer Skills

    • To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess basic computer proficiency and functional knowledge with applications and activities including (but not limited to):
      1. Basic data entry into manufacturing software system.
      2. Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

    Language Skills

    • Ability to read and write the English language.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
    • Ability to write simple correspondence.
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    Other Skills, Abilities, and/or Qualifications required for an individual to perform the job successfully include.

    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering sketches, and/or written instructions
