    Behavioral Health Supervisor(Corpus Christi, Laredo - Methodist Healthcare Ministries

    Description

    Essential Duties:

    • Applies specialized clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills in the areas of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, conditions and addictions, including severe mental illness in adults.
    • Uses treatment methods to include the provision of individual, marital, couple, family and group therapy, psychotherapy, motivational interviewing and integrated behavioral health model of care.
    • Uses the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), the International Classification of Diseases (ICD), and other diagnostic classification systems in assessment, diagnosis and other activities.
    • Applies specialized knowledge and advanced practice skills in the areas of assessment, treatment planning, implementation and evaluation, supervision, consultation, education, research, advocacy, community organization, and the development, implementation and administration of policies, programs and activities.
    • Assist team members in the use of motivational interviewing and integrated care models
    • Partner with Wesley Nurses and/or community clinics to provide integrated care services with the goal of improving client health and mental health outcomes.

    • Responsible for provision of counseling services as well as program supervision and coordination of counseling services.
    • Monitors program staff in order to ensure effective execution of the counseling services program.
    • Determines eligibility and matches income with sliding fee scale at the initial intake session and informs the client of fee amounts for subsequent sessions.
    • Refers any client not eligible for services to appropriate service providers.
    • Supervises the identification of community resources within specified geographic boundaries.
    • Supervises and makes referrals for case management services and follows up to ensure service delivery.
    • Promotes interactive communication with Wesley Nurse programs, the community, and other community agencies.
    • Analyzes program data and produces reports to Methodist Healthcare Ministries Regional & Clinical Counseling Manager as requested.
    • Uses data to assist in improved planning, development and effective use of area resources.
    • Coordinates field team activities to develop and maintain quality assurance indicators that evaluate the effectiveness of the counseling program.
    • Assists in the planning, coordinating and implementing of projects and programs to include identifying needs, researching, and defining field team counselors' caseloads.
    • Supervises day-to-day operation of case flow, assessments, and crisis interventions.
    • Implements Policies and Procedures and recommends any needed modifications.
    • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with individuals and families referred for counseling.
    • Develops and maintains a cumulative record for each client receiving counseling services.
    • Develops intervention strategies to meet client short term and long-term treatment goals.
    • Supervises all administrative aspects of the counseling program to include management of supply, office space, security of records, collection of fees, deposit of funds, time schedules of field team members, submission of time sheets and coordination with Wesley Nurses at church sites.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Education/Experience:


    Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field required; three years clinical experience providing counseling services required; two years' experience providing Behavioral Health Consultant services in a in primary care setting preferred.

    Minimum of one year experience overseeing counselors or Behavioral Health Consultant services preferred.


    Language Ability:


    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as professional journals, operating manuals, maintenance instructions, technical procedures, or government regulations.

    Ability to read, analyze and interpret medical documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred.


    Reasoning Ability:
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

    Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Ability to perform independently.


    Certificates and Licenses:
    Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor (LMFT) or Licensed Psychologist required. Eligible for licensure in Texas required.


    Computer Skills:
    Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of the Internet, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel and electronic health records software. Ability to efficiently document in the electronic health record.


    Other:
    Ability to drive and have access to a car, maintain a valid driver's license and auto liability insurance.

    While performing the duties of this job, the team member is exposed to outpatient clinic, community center and/or church environments having direct contact with patients and clients.

    Position may necessitate bending, stooping, reaching, kneeling and crouching, sitting, standing and walking for periods of time. Must be able to lift and maneuver 25 pounds.
