Description
Overview:The Senior Associate Director is a collaborative, results-driven professional leading the administrative operations of the Pace Center for Civic Engagement. The Pace Center aims to make service central to the Princeton student experience and the Senior Associate Director has primary responsibility to assess, establish, and implement the practices, policies, processes, systems, and messages that support the center's goals to be a resource to campus, to support intentional learning, to facilitate inclusivity in service, and to develop purposeful community partnerships. The Senior Associate Director leverages and implements comprehensive communications and technology strategies for the center, analyzes and manages departmental financial and budget matters, manages the departmental information platforms and technology, and manages the human resources of the center to ensure a positive workplace for staff to thrive. The successful Senior Associate Director has expertise in communication, project management, and problem-solving and is able to be agile, listen, pivot, and respond responsibly with thoughtful and targeted solutions meeting the needs of staff and students. A significant part of this role is making connections across programs and with campus partners to ensure operational efficiency and compliance. The Senior Associate Director reports to the Executive Director of the Pace Center and supervises a team who support communications, finance and human resources, office management and facilities, and information technology.
Responsibilities:Operational leadership and management: Systematically assess, develop, enhance, and implement the necessary business practices, processes, systems, protocols, and standards to support staff, student and program alignment with the goals of the center and the University. These include communications, online presence, and platforms - such as the center's Drupal website, myPrincetonU (Campus Groups) and Instagram. Manage information technology and finances, including staff and student technical support needs and information management practices and platforms; regular budget reviews and analysis, strategic use of funds, responsible purchasing, expenses and practices, and regular assessment of services provided by Financial Shared Services. Facilitate review and vetting of risk and legal compliance related to student safety, partner agreements, and liability insurance. Manage transportation resources and process. Manage physical space to ensure student and community access and belonging and supporting staff wellness and productivity. Cultivate a culture of collaboration, transparency, and trust to ensure shared learning, accountability, and decision-making with staff and campus partners, including the Office of VP of Campus Life, Offices of the Provost, General Counsel, Risk Management, Finance and Treasury.
Personnel management: Supervise and manage the work, priorities, professional development and personal needs of staff supporting assessment and evaluation, communications, office and cross-departmental needs, and information technology. Identify, hire and support student workers. Manage hiring process from beginning to end, including oversight of the university's hiring and application tracking platform, iCIMS; development/review and posting of job descriptions, coordinating the interview, feedback and offer process. Lead on-boarding and off-boarding of staff in key administrative/operational areas, including technology, finances, information, and office environment. Ability to be agile, listen, pivot and respond when programs and/or staff require support.
Strategic leadership: Support of executive director in building community around service; planning for short and long-term organizational needs; representing and advocating for center needs and resources to internal and external stakeholders. Manage timely and comprehensive donor relations and gift stewardship. Manage Campus Life and University ad hoc and annual informational requests around service, including Trustees reports, Report to Princeton Mayor and Council, Enterprise Risk Management and Records Management reports, Campus Life fact sheet and Overview and National Trends with Princeton Implications, National Partnership for Student Success (NPSS). Represent Pace Center on University Student Life Committee.
Qualifications:Bachelors degree and 5+ years of experience
Proven leadership skills, specifically around creating an inclusive workplace
Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and strategically to changing organizational needs and priorities
Proven success in building and maintaining relationships and effective and ethical partnerships and working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders
Experience in managing administrative and operational resources, including financial, transportation, communications, information technology, human resources
Exceptional communication skills, including active listening, writing, facilitation and presentation
Evidence of sound judgment, independent and collaborative thinking, decision-making, problem-solving
Experience working with diverse populations
