    TEKsystems has an opportunity for Junior Display Technology Research Engineer
    This position is supporting test and evaluation lab for munitions for the Air Force


    Job Description:

    We are looking to hire a Display Technology Research Engineer to support our operations within the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Eglin, AFB Florida
    The candidate would conduct research and development related to display technology testing and characterization and design and execute experiments to evaluate display systems
    TEKsystems is seeking a to support KHILS
    This team is creating the simulation for topical environments and infrared sensors at KHILS
    They are creating Virtual Reality for the weapons and munitions that come out of AFRL
    This person will spend the majority of their time Working on setting up and operating emerging infrared scene projector technologies
    This requires setting up optics, optomechanical elements, and perhaps designing / buying fixtures to improve optical setups
    Among this are the responsibilities to take careful notes, collect data from these systems, and share this data with team members
    Long term the expectation is this person will become more and more self-sufficient and have the ability to extrapolate on what needs to be studied with these systems to ensure they can mature
    They will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize display systems and develop and maintain scripts for data acquisition and analysis
    The candidate will be responsible for analyzing data and providing insights for display technology improvements, providing regular updates to team members and government sponsors on research progress, and staying up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies
    This position is not eligible for remote work and the successful candidate will work with other assigned engineers on-site

    Proficiency in optics and optomechanics Non Negotiables:
    Candidate must have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Physics Qualifications:
    Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optics, or related field
    2+ years working in a laboratory environment
    Strong engineering and research skills
    Proficiency in optics and optomechanics
    Experience scripting control software of laboratory instrumentation
    Proficient in data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or similar tools
    Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience in characterizing display technologies (MEMS, LCD, OLED, LED, etc.)
    Experience with infrared cameras and camera calibration.
    Experience with display calibration
    Familiarity with display measurement equipment (cameras, spectrometers, spectroradiometers, colorimeters, photodiode detectors, etc.)

    Candidate must have strong communication skills and the ability to be a team player and multitask
    Priorities and projects may change quickly due to customer demands
    A successful candidate for this role and environment MUST be a self-starter and actively seek out feedback
    Personality is a big deal for this environment as this person will be responsible for briefing the government customer on their work updates and to the development team

    Work Environment:
    The work environment is business casual in a classified environment on Eglin AFB in the Air Force Research Lab
    No phones in the building
    The team is currently 1 government lead, 1 local engineer, and 2 senior engineers who are remote but travel to be onsite often
    We collaborate with other government labs as well as external vendors
    The plan is to grow the core team local to Eglin AFB

    Customer Impact:
    They will be working to technologies to provide the Air Force with a strong technology base upon which future air-delivered munitions can be developed to neutralize potential threats to the US
    The program is called WESTAR - Weapon Engagement Simulation Technology for Advanced Research
    The purpose of the the program is to develop modelling capabilities in support of the USAF weapon systems
    They also evaluate high-end, next-generation concepts related to weapon systems
