- A day in the life of a Respiratory Therapy Team Lead at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
- Respiratory Care Practitioner responsibilities such as assessment, education, and care of patients with cardio-pulmonary conditions. This includes patient assessment, medication delivery, oxygen therapy, blood gas analysis, and ventilator management across all age groups. Additionally, performs other assigned duties.
- Assists in advocating for pulmonary services and interventions, analyzing care needs, complaints, and suggesting improvements. Plans and manages staffing schedules, ensuring efficient completion of tasks.
- Orients and evaluates new staff, provides training, and acts as a resource for problem-solving. Collects and presents information accurately and within set time frames.
- Maintains appropriate staffing levels, equipment, and supplies. Reviews ABG controls, reports on performance, and maintains ABG analyzers.
- Completes other assigned duties and projects, adhering to organizational competencies and standards.
- Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Minimum of 5 years of adult critical care experience.
- Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred:
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in acute care or ventilator weaning units, along with pediatric experience. Proficiency in using the AVEA ventilator and arterial blood gas analyzing equipment.
- Licenses and Certifications Required:
- NJ Respiratory Care Practitioner License, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification, AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
