Description

As the Legal Policy Specialist will act as the Regulatory Affairs Officer and liaison to the Michigan Office of Administrative Hearings and Rules (MOAHR) Administrative Rules Division (ARD) in the promulgation, amendment, and rescission of department administrative rules; serve as the hearings officer in contested cases involving licenses and permits denied, suspended, or revoked by the assigned divisions; responsible for maintenance of legal policies and procedures; provide legal review of Land Use Orders of the Director (LUOD) for legal authority, enforceability, and conflict with existing statute.

Will serve as lead Legal Policy Specialist for Parks and Recreation Division, Marketing and Outreach Division, Forest

Resources Division, Finance and Operations Division, the Executive Division, and the Michigan History Center.

Duties include conducting research and compiling background data on an array of natural resources and culturally significant legal issues; reviewing agreements such as Memoranda of Understanding (MOU), contracts, releases, Cooperative Agreements (CA), and Memoranda of Agreement (MOA) assigned divisions enter into with internal and external entities, providing legal guidance regarding an array of natural resources and culturally significant issues related to the divisions, bureaus, and offices which assigned as lead Legal Policy Specialist.

Serve as legal expert and liaison between assigned divisions and the Attorney General's (AG) Office.

Position Description

This position may be eligible for an alternate remote work location, such as from home, at least part of the year per department policy.

Education

Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major.

Experience

Four years of professional experience, including two years equivalent to the experienced (P11) level or one year equivalent to the advanced (12) level.
