    PlayOn Sports is the nation's leading high school media and technology company, providing streaming and digital ticketing services to thousands of high schools nationwide.

    In 2013, PlayOn Sports and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) created the NFHS Network, a joint venture that aggregates the sports media and related rights of state high school athletic associations while celebrating the accomplishments of student-athletes, student broadcasters, and high schools across the country.

    Through the NFHS Network, PlayOn Sports provides automated production capabilities free of charge to schools which allows them to live-stream via artificial intelligence and automation thus avoiding the need for production personnel.

    In 2022, PlayOn Sports and GoFan (backed by KKR a leading global investment firm), the leading digital ticketing company in the high school sports market, joined forces to create a streamlined customer experience for in-person, live-stream, and on-demand events.

    There are 19,500 high schools in the NFHS ecosystem and PlayOn Sports currently works with over 50% of them.

    Going forward, the company is focused on: 1) continuing to grow the number of schools it works with; 2) continuing to grow the average revenue per school; 3) expanding the products and services it provides to the high school ecosystem beyond streaming; 4) expanding outside of high school sports.
    THE ROLEPlayOn Sports is looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join our VNN Websites team.

    You will be an integral part of our software development process, responsible for guaranteeing the quality and functionality of our software products.

    Your role will involve a combination of manual and automation testing, with a specific focus on with a specific focus on Java Spring for GraphQL, Selenium, and PHP.


    Additional responsibilities and accountabilities for this role include:

    Programming Skills:

    • Expert in writing clean, performant code in GraphQL/REST APIs.
    Experience with performance considerations and best practices.

    JavaScript:
    Knowledge of JavaScript is necessary for utilizing Playwright, especially for API interactions within Playwright tests.

    • Familiarity with PHP applications and WordPress websites is a plus

    API Testing Knowledge:

    • Understanding of API testing principles, including endpoint testing, request and response validation, handling authentication mechanisms (like OAuth, JWT), and dealing with different HTTP methods (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE).
    • Knowledge of testing tools and frameworks specifically designed for API testing (e.g., Postman, REST Assured).

    Experience with Playwright:

    • Familiarity with Playwright, including writing and executing tests, handling asynchronous behavior, interacting with UI elements, and performing API testing within Playwright

    Microservices Understanding:

    • Knowledge of microservices architecture and its principles, including communication protocols (e.g., HTTP, gRPC), service discovery, Docker and containerization principles, and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).

    Version Control Systems:

    • Proficiency in using version control systems like Git and BitBucket for code management, collaboration, and version control

    Testing Methodologies:

    • Understanding of testing methodologies (e.g., unit testing, integration testing, end-to-end testing) and their application in the context of microservices and APIs.
    • Experience with manual testing on web, mobile web, and native mobile applications

    Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting Skills:

    • Ability to identify, debug, and resolve issues in complex distributed systems, including microservices architecture.
    • Cloud Experience- AWS/GCP etc.

    Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):

    • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for frequent and reliable deployments

    Documentation and Communication:

    • Strong communication skills to articulate testing strategies, document test cases, and collaborate effectively within a team

    Adaptability and Learning Agility:

    • Willingness and ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changes in the tech stack or testing methodologies.

    THE PERSON

    • 4+ years' experience as a Senior Test Engineer and 6+ years' experience as a Test Engineer.
    • Hands-on experience with automated functional testing tools.
    • 4+ years' automation testing experience.
    • Strong aptitude to learn and adapt to technology.
    • Proficient in both manual and automation testing.
