    Description
SSNR Propulsion Plant Electrical Systems Engineering
The UK's next generation fast attack submarine (SSNR) engineering team is in need of Propulsion Plant Electrical Systems Engineers.

The SSNR Power Distribution Group has openings for highly motivated engineers to support the development of a new electric plant design for the next class of submarines.

The SSNR Electrical Systems engineer will be responsible for supporting the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the UK Shipyard (BAE Systems) in development of a VIRGINIA-like DC electric plant for the UK's next fast-attack submarine.

The effort is to help train UK engineers and guide the design of the electric plant.

The candidate(s) selected for this engineering position will be responsible for the coordination and support of a DC electric plant architecture that utilizes the latest developments in solid state power electronics for power conversion, system protection and coordination related to the UK next submarine design.

Coordinate electric plant component evaluations such as a power conversion equipment, Switchboards, and generators to be incorporated into the DC distribution system.

Coordinate and develop supporting documentation such as functional requirements, interface and component specifications, electric plant architecture recommendations, and vendor workscopes.

Provide direction and oversight of system analyses including impedance analysis, fault analysis, and large scale modeling and simulation.
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required.
Be willing to travel on a regular basis, as well as traveling to the UK will be expected.
Candidate must be from organizations outside of operations (Casciano/Gabriel)
Masters in Engineering is a plus
Experience with MATLAB tools is desired
Previous experience in development of electric plant systems and components, particularly power electronics, is highly desired

Must be highly motivated, work independently, and be willing to interact with other engineering disciplines and the design and operations communities.
