    Payroll Manager Our client is an 800 person privately held business services firm with a publicly traded investment structure.

    The Company is top of field and known for their professionalism and strong management.

    The Payroll Manager will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and reviewing centralized payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, bonuses, equity compensation, benefits, garnishments, tax and other deductions.

    They will ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, promotions, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

    They will create and maintain payroll processing documentation procedures and controls for use in compliance with internal and external audit.

    The scope of the role includes; Payroll Process - Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external customers.

    - Manage payroll operations and initiate process improvements to maximize customer service delivery standards, productivity, and cost effectiveness. - Direct responsibility for payroll production schedule and business cycle processes.


    • Manage biweekly file conversions for importing and exporting ADP files to third party vendors and JDE.
    • Oversee accounting journal entries, funding and cash requests, wire requests, bank reconciliations, suspect check reports, escheat process and quarterly tax reconciliations and filings.
    • Oversee administration, maintenance, and user support for eTime timekeeping system.
    • Interface with legal department on accounting for equity compensation in compliance with GAAP.
    • Interface with Human Resources on processing employee transactions and activities related to the transfer of data from the HRIS system to ADP.
    • Manage and administer the employee stock purchase plan.
    • Process, maintain, and reconcile employee stock plans related transactions (including nonqualified options and Restricted Stock) with provider.
    • Calculate and administer payment of quarterly dividends on unvested restricted stock. Vendor Maintenance
    • Manage third party vendor relationships including ADP, eTime, T Rowe Price, WageWorks and other providers.
    • Coordinate payroll related audits (401K, workers compensation) with external auditing firms.
    • Set up, maintain, and work with agencies regarding employee garnishments. Compliance with State & Federal Regulations
    • Maintain payroll subjectmatter expertise to function as an internal expert on compliance issues.
    • Ensure that the calculation of earnings and other payments are accurate and completed in a timely manner in compliance with Federal state and local laws, company policies and union contracts.
    • Ensure that payroll transactions are properly classified and in compliance with accounting principles and internal/external audit requirements.
    • Maintain financial controls and audit trails for all transactions.
    • Process nonqualified deferred compensation disbursements in accordance with Federal, state and local tax agencies.
    • Process income updates for taxation of vested restricted stock and maintain backup documentation.
    • Collaborate with Human Resources to implement employee benefit plans and ensure compliance with Federal and state tax laws.
    • Oversee internal and external payroll data reporting (ad hoc & scheduled) for all government agencies, Property Accounting, and other management as needed. Leadership Responsibilities
    • Hire, train, coach, and manage Payroll department staff.
    • Troubleshoot and work with the IS department on all system related initiatives, upgrades, and installations.
    • Work closely with senior HR Leadership in the support of HR Business Initiatives. Policy & Process Improvement
    • Review, design, develop and implement updated payroll related policies and procedures as needed.
    • Customize, maintain, and troubleshoot the ADP payroll system including tax grids, accumulators, validation tables, custom fields, grouping, scheduling, and balancing.
    • Identify and implement opportunities for automation

    Qualifications:

    Qualifications:

    • A BA/BS degree is preferred; Certified Payroll Certificate is attractive
    • A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in payroll required, preferably in multisite/multistate environments.
    • Extensive knowledge and proficiency in payroll law and payroll tax law is required with specific technical knowledge of FLSA and ERISA.
    • Previous experience with ADP and Kronos (Etime) time reporting software is required.
    • Experience with ADP Vantage converting from Payforce desirable.
    • Previous supervisory management experience required.
    • Previous experience in a public company desirable.
    • Knowledge and expertise relating to HR matters and benefits is required.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles is required.
    • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated commitment to and proficiency in meeting customer service standards of the organization.
    • Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous priorities and deadlines.
    • Proven organizational skills.
    • Ability to achieve results without close supervision.
    • Selfmotivated with the ability to operate independently and also has the strong desire to work as a member of a team.
    • Advanced computer literacy with specific proficiency in word and excel. Knowledge of Access preferred.
