- Provide primary care and supervision for up to 4 infants/toddlers in a classroom of 8 children.
- Implement an age-appropriate daily routine for infants/toddlers.
- Communicate regularly with parents about their child's activities during the day.
- Complete written reports on a daily basis, including attendance, developmental observations, etc.
- Assist with regular sanitation of the classroom environment.
- Use Teaching Strategies Gold software to record and track individual child progress.
- Prepare and post weekly lesson plans for the infant/toddler classroom.
- Conduct parent conferences and home visits as needed.
- Implements a learning environment that meets Head Start Performance Standards, NC Day Care regulations, and other funding source guidelines.
- Act as a role model and mentor to other staff and parents.

Toddler Teacher for Union County Community Action, Inc.

Reports to: Site Manager
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Summary:
A Toddler Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing activities for a classroom of up to four infants and toddlers. This involves coordinating with other Early Head Start Teachers and working with parents and volunteers to create an individualized learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Education and Early Childhood Development:
The Toddler Teacher ensures that the education environment is developmentally and linguistically appropriate, recognizing individual rates of development and interests. They provide a program that supports social and emotional development, cognitive skills, and physical development, and involves parents in the development of the curriculum and approach to child development and education.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have a High School Diploma or GED and an Infant Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential, with six months to one year of related experience and/or training. Alternative qualifications include an Associate of Science degree in Early Child Development or equivalent and six months to one year of related experience and/or training.
Language Skills:
The Toddler Teacher must be able to read and interpret documents, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups.
Physical Demands:
The position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work Environment:
The work environment is moderate, with occasional exposure to outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate.
