The Plant Manager is responsible for all production activities associated with manufacturing compounded plastic pellets in the required quantity, quality and within customer specifications.
Manages Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, Quality Manager, Project Coordinator, Shipping Manager, Administrative Coordinator, and Shift Supervisors. Responsible for all processes equipment, co-workers, safety and housekeeping for the plant and meeting production quality and quantity standards.
Buys all new and used production machines and equipment and maintains a thorough knowledge of all extrusion processes and equipment.
Determines requirements for projects and major purchases for the plant and evaluates suppliers' proposals to determine the best option for the division.
Checks daily production rates and machine downtime, monitoring and investigating any production problems.
Visits customers when necessary, in order to resolve any complaints or problems.
Assists in negotiating union contracts and resolving union grievances, if necessary.
Assures that established policies, procedures and union contracts are followed.
Review vacation schedules for Production Manager, Production Foreman and production co-workers to ensure appropriate staffing levels for each shift.
Acts as a backup and fills in for the Production Manager and/or the Production Foreman when necessary.
Troubleshoots problems and eliminates bottlenecks in production.
Performs other duties and assignments as directed by supervisor.
Recommended Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent required, with at least 5 – 7 years of production background preferred. Working knowledge of extrusion equipment and processes. Working knowledge of computerized inventory system. Working knowledge of plant operations and price quote systems.
Skilled in the use of basic computer software including MS Office
