- Perform a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.
- Operate mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate, following safety standards and using radiation protection.
- Position patients for exams, calculate exposure factors, assist physicians, and perform quality control functions related to mammography.
- Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality, obtaining additional images as needed, and prepare medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate.
- Explain procedures to patients, provide orientation to new Mammography Technologists, and assist in maintenance and compilation of statistical data.
- Associate's degree (A.A.) in Radiologic Technology program or equivalent from two-year College or technical school.
- Minimum of two years' experience in radiologic imaging modalities, one year of Mammography experience preferred, and experience with tomosynthesis.
- Licensed in the State of Florida and ARRT certification in Radiography (RT(R)). Current ARRT certification in Mammography (M) preferred, or must be obtained within first 6 months of employment in position.
- BLS Certification.
- Proficiency with Mammography procedures and protocols.
- Anatomy and physiology knowledge.
- Experience with the use, QA, and troubleshooting of various types of radiologic equipment.
- Radiation safety and protection requirements for staff, patients, and visitors.
- Ability to use computer and network systems for processing and submitting images for interpretation by radiologist.
- Emergency response skills, including knowledge of AED function, crash cart location, and oxygen tank usage.
