    About the position

    Coordinate, administer and direct the staff and activities for an outdoor mobile recreation program Park 'N' Play to various locations around the city in the summer and fall months.

    Working hours vary on season; summer June - August can be up to 40 hours a week, fall September - October 10-20 hours.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Assist with interviewing, hiring and training mobile recreation seasonal staff.
    • Complete new hire paperwork for seasonal staff and work with payroll to ensure documents are accurate and complete.
    • Create, plan, and develop Park 'N' Play weekly activities to assist staff in planning for participants of various ages, which provides interaction through games, crafts, and other outdoor activities. Recommend, purchase, and replenish supplies needed for the Park 'N' Play program as needed.
    • Monitor and support varied recreation administrative duties such as registration, parent and community communication regarding the mobile recreation program.
    • Monitor documentation of Park 'N' Play activities through participation review and photography.
    • Participate in the Park 'N' Play program, providing supervision of mobile rec activity leaders, participants during implementation of program. Ensure service delivery of program and maintain all safety standards.
    • Supervise and coordinate daily operations of Park 'N' Play staff, transport supplies and staff in mobile rec van.
    • Provide:
      • Leadership of preseason training/orientation meetings for seasonal staff. Conduct and participate in staff meetings.
      • On-going leadership and staff support through entire staffing period.
      • Administration, promotion, direction and coordination of mobile rec program- Park 'N' Play. Interact and communicate with other agencies, organizations and City Departments in a collaborative atmosphere to deliver an outstanding Mobile Recreation program to the community.
      • Information to the public on mobile recreation program.
      • Supervisor with information on the program on a timely basis. Prepare year-end report of expenditures, participation, etc.
      • Communication relevant to Park 'N' Play activities, cancellations, or changes to site visits.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Experience working with various ages of children in a youth program setting.
    • Experience planning and implementing youth activities.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Have a valid MN driver's license.
    Desired Qualifications
    • Demonstrated cultural competence and comfort with supporting the city's strategic objectives for advancing racial equity.
    • Pursuing a degree or completed courses in primary education, parks and recreation, youth development, or related field.

    • Tuesday 9:00am - 4:30pm

    • Thursday 1:30 - 8:30pm
