- Support and participate in the monthly financial statement close process by preparing standard journal entries, adjusting journal entries and month-end accruals.
- Adhere to and sustain aggressive 5-day monthly closing schedule.
- Prepare, review and analyze account reconciliations.
- Perform a variety of accounting functions including, but not limited to commission preparation and monthly labor distribution.
- Perform accounts payable functions including, but not limited to processing invoices using 3-way match and weekly check runs.
- Work closely with other departments such as procurement and warehouse to research invoice issues
- Document and maintain current procedures.
- Assist, as needed, in special projects.
- Strong research skills as it relates to purchasing, receiving and payment for purchased material.
- Strong Excel skills using Pivot tables and VLookup functions
Able to work independently or with teams on projects - Good written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Capable of prioritizing and managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Able to work under tight close deadlines.
- Associates Degree in Accounting, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience - preferably in the service industry
- Demonstrated technical knowledge and understanding of Accounting theory, principles, practices and regulations including FASB/GAAP and SOX compliance
- Demonstrated experience with journal entries and accounts payable
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Knowledge of MS Great Plains preferred
