    Overview:

    St. Lukes Health System in Meridian, ID is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech (Flex Schedule) join our Women's Services team.

    Schedule: The hours will be , day of the week will vary (night shift). 1-2 days per pay period.

    Unit Summary:

    We are a team of about 70 members with RNs, CSTs, CNAs, Lactation Consultants and Leadership. Our team is dedicated to quality patient care, safety and relationship based care, meaning we care for our patients, our team members and ourselves. We encourage and provide opportunities for frequent team collaboration, education and continually seek feedback and staff engagement in unit operations and processes. Our team excels in emergency situations coming together to take care of our patients and families physically and emotionally, everyone jumps in to help

    Position Summary:

    The Certified Surgical Technologist is responsible for identifying and securing instrumentation and equipment needed for invasive procedures and demonstrating proficient use and implementation of the same. CSTs are very autonomous in maintaining our ORs and working with providers and nursing staff. Our nightshift especially are crucial in emergencies.

    Responsibilities

    • Performs pre-operative procedures such as selection and placement of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
    • Assists surgeon and designated assistants in invasive procedures, passing instruments and supplies and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
    • During the surgical procedure provides instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies.
    • Helps prepare, care for, and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis and helps apply dressings.
    • Applies basic knowledge of anatomy & physiology, medical terminology and microbiology.
    • Applies knowledge related to emergency situations and surgical procedures in the operating room.
    • May develop, organize and deliver continuing education topics and/or training (in-services).
    • May assist in precept of students and new staff.
    • Maintains a safe work environment.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Education: HS/GED
    • Experience: None
    • Licenses/Certifications:
      • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider certification
      • Certified as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) OR Tech in Surgery - Certified (CST-NCCT) by National Center Competency Testing (NCCT)
