    A Procurement Engineer is a degreed engineer that performs the sourcing activities of technical goods and services.

    Their knowledge and expertise as an engineer allows them to read and interpret detailed product drawings, understand the materials technical requirements, manufacturing process to produce products, and can leverage these skills to improve execution, quality, and cost.

    In addition, they evaluate and select suppliers, negotiate terms and prices, manage key projects, and manage the supply chain.

    These responsibilities require optimum quality, delivery, price, and service provided by an aligned supply base to meet customer requirements by effectively monitoring the performance of suppliers against contractual standards and achieving continuous improvements in costs and performance.

    Determine product requirements by reading and interpreting detailed product drawings, material technical bulletins, CAD files, and product performance attributes
    Actively negotiating with suppliers to address quality, delivery, price, or service discrepancies
    Obtaining quotes and conducting quote analysis
    Effectively manage supplier selection to meet quality, service, delivery, cost, risk mitigation, and supplier capabilities to meet requirements
    Effectively lead continuous improvement projects and ZEISS ACS Supplier performance initiatives with supply base
    Monitoring project timelines and issuing purchase orders to meet delivery requirements
    Monitoring and driving supplier OTD performance by leveraging open p/o report
    Hosting supplier project meetings and issuing meeting notes with action items, due dates, and ownership
    Assuring purchased product costs and Outline Agreements are accurately established and maintained in SAP
    Provide recommendations of alternative materials or new processes, which may bring technological advancement to product designs for the enhancement of ZEISS's competitive position
    Collaborating and developing strong relationships with other procurement, manufacturing, quality, and project management staff members in developing and implementing procurement policies, procedures, strategies, materials management systems, and supporting programs
    Engaging corporate quality, business unit(s), and suppliers in the First Article Inspection process (FAI) to support product changes
    Effectively communicating and engaging with wide range of ZEISS leadership levels

    You are/have:
    Mechanical or Electrical engineering degree
    Minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience as an procurement engineer
    One-year experience desired with SAP
    Analytical abilities to assess the performance of suppliers against criteria such as quality, cost, reliability, ability to innovate and financial stability
    Financial skills to assess the total cost of procurement
    Interpersonal and negotiating skills necessary to build effective working relationships with supply partners
    Strong project management and procurement methods
    Strong oral and written communication skills
    Ability to work with a wide range of technical, sales, manufacturing, management personnel and business process owners
    Ability and willingness to travel in the USA and internationally %)
