    Under general supervision, maintains the network infrastructure, resources, access, and security for the Information Systems Management (ISM) Department; analyzes and resolves problems, and verifies the integrity, security, and effective performance of the PHA's computing infrastructure and network systems.

    Annual salary: $77,800 annually

    Qualifications

    Education, Training and Experience Guidelines:

    Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field; AND two (2) or more years experience in multiple network systems environment; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    Required Knowledge of:

    Principles and practices of network administration, system administration, system access, and security procedures; Troubleshooting techniques for complex computer systems including multiple WAN/LAN network operating domains, server and storage hardware, and web- and windows-based software applications; Networked computer operating systems, hardware, technologies, topologies, and administration protocols; Networked computer system environments and device capabilities; Maintenance standards for network operating systems and servers, and other software applications unique to PHA departments.

    Required Skill in:

    Analyzing network problems, evaluating alternatives, and developing solutions based on findings; Maintaining network hardware, switches, routers, and network cabling requirements; Analyzing equipment and system malfunctions, troubleshooting computers and software applications, and determining effective solutions; Solving technical problems involving multiple operating systems, applications, and platforms; Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands; Interacting with people of different social, economic, and ethnic backgrounds; Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers; Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software; Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.

    LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

    • A valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Driver's License may be required.
    • Microsoft, Cisco, Oracle, and other professional IT certifications are desirable.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

    Work is performed in a standard office environment. Physical dexterity is required to work in confined spaces and use precision tools and equipment; requires vision capacity to perform fine calibrations and differentiate between colored wires. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

    Responsibilities

    Maintains the ISM network applications and infrastructure, and verifies the integrity, security, and effective performance of network systems; performs work within scope of authority and training, and according to ISM policies and procedures; duties may vary according to job assignment; Administers assigned systems and Wide and Local Area Networks (WAN/LAN); identifies problems, isolates errors, and implements technical solutions; works independently, and makes appropriate decisions based on experience; Performs technical work in the operation, maintenance, and development of assigned networks or systems; identifies and resolves server, storage and application problems; Serves as subject matter expert on assigned networks or systems, and effectively communicates project plans and network or system management issues; Identifies, defines, and resolves network or system problems; installs and configures new network, server and storage hardware and software; monitors and tunes the infrastructure for optimal performance and uptime; Monitors status, functionality, and utilization of network environment; resolves configuration and connectivity issues, and other traffic, security, and access problems; Documents all changes to assigned network or system environment; assures optimum performance, system integrity, and maximum uptime; performs backup and restore functions as applicable; Maintains work log of service requests, equipment malfunctions, software errors, failures, and technical configurations; identifies and reports trends and technical problems which need to be addressed by improved methodologies, procedures, and policies; Monitors Internet firewalls, and identifies and resolves security and access issues; Creates and maintains MS Windows Active Directory domains and virtualization infrastructure; Enforces technology policies and system controls; recommends new hardware and software; Stays abreast of trends and innovations in information systems issues and policies; Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues and PHA information; performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
