    Position Purpose (Mission)

    As the MRI Technologist, you will be responsible for the integration of scientific knowledge and technical skills with effective patient interaction to provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information. This responsibility includes completing scans effectively and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of patient care possible in order to provide the most remarkable patient experience.

    Responsibilities, Duties, Functions, Tasks (Outcomes)
    • Complete scans effectively and efficiently:
      • Collect pertinent data about the patient and the procedure
      • Select the most appropriate, cost-effective action plan after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient's abilities and condition
      • Screen the patient for ferrous and RF-sensitive material before the patient enters the magnetic field
      • Position and prepare patients for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures
      • Select appropriate immobilization devices
      • Review the patient's chart and the physician's request to determine optimal scanning parameters for the suspected pathology
      • Prepare and administer contrast agents in accordance with state and federal regulations
      • Enter necessary patient information to initiate the scan(s)
      • Assess and monitor the patient's physical and mental status throughout the procedure
      • Review images to determine if additional scans will enhance the diagnostic value of the procedure
      • Document diagnostic, treatment and patient data in the appropriate record. Documentation must be timely, accurate, concise and complete.
      • Archive images to data storage devices according to established guidelines
      • Keep workflow in such a manner that it is an effective use of time, equipment and supplies
    • Maintain the highest standards of patient care possible:
      • Implement and maintain the MedQuest Best Customer Service Program
      • Provide accurate explanations and instructions at a level the patient can understand
      • Maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and exposure technique
      • Exhibit a high level of technical competence and clinical judgment
      • Ensure that the required supplies and equipment are available
      • Check all equipment routinely and perform preventive maintenance when necessary
      • Share knowledge and expertise with colleagues, peers and all members of the healthcare team
      • Maintain a safe environment by monitoring cryogens
    • Ensure the Center's compliance with MedQuest Policy procedures, OSHA, local, state and Federal regulatory requirements:
      • Follow radiation protection guidelines
      • Participate in formal training and service programs
      • Ensure that deadlines are met with regards to reports
      • Perform quality assurance activities based on established quality protocols
      • Document quality assurance activities and results
      • Maintain strict confidentiality with regard to medical records and other data
    • Continuing Education:
      • Cross-train for additional modalities within the center
      • Complete and retain certification in MRI technology
      • Build education files on an outstanding or interesting case
    • Other duties as assigned
    Requirements

    Education:
    • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program
    • ARRT registered with advanced registry in MRI
    • Must complete required CEU's in a timely manner to ensure Certification remains active
    • Active state licensure, where applicable
    • CPR Certification is required
    Prior Experience:
    • 0+ years of experience as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist, required
    • 2+ years of experience as an MRI Technologist, preferred
    Special Qualifications:
    • IV skills required
    • Knowledge of MRI procedures and standards
    • Demonstrate adequate knowledge of anatomy
    • Skill in operation of MRI equipment
    • Customer service background and focus
