Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavioral Health Technician to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will provide direct patient care and support individuals experiencing behavioral health challenges, including those with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, PTSD, and addiction issues. Your energetic approach will help foster a safe, supportive environment where clients can work towards their recovery and personal growth. You will collaborate closely with clinical staff to implement treatment plans, monitor patient progress, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA. Duties
- Assist clients with daily activities, ensuring their safety and well-being through attentive patient care and behavior management strategies
- Conduct behavioral assessments, data collection, and progress documentation in accordance with medical records standards
- Monitor vital signs and administer medications as prescribed, maintaining accurate medical documentation while adhering to HIPAA regulations
- Respond effectively to crisis situations through crisis intervention and crisis management protocols, ensuring safety for clients and staff
- Engage clients in therapeutic activities tailored to their needs, including special education strategies for children or individuals with disabilities
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams during intake processes and ongoing assessments to optimize care plans
Qualifications
- Prior experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or mental health conditions such as PTSD or addiction counseling is highly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical documentation procedures, and data collection methods relevant to behavioral health settings
- Ability to perform crisis intervention and crisis management effectively in high-pressure situations
- Strong understanding of behavior management techniques and applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles
- Excellent communication skills for working with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to accurately measure vital signs and administer medications following established protocols
- Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and safeguarding patient confidentiality
