    Position: Mental Health Clinician

    Location: East Elmhurst, NY 11370

    Job Type: Contract

    Contract: 13 weeks with strong possibility of extension

    Shift: 4:00 PM-12:00 AM

    Guaranteed hours per week: 35

    Pay: $60 to $62/hr. on W2

    Job Overview

    We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician to provide comprehensive psychiatric and behavioral health services within a correctional health setting. This role supports incarcerated adult men and focuses on assessment, treatment, crisis intervention, and continuity of care. The clinician will work closely with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, ethical, and effective mental health services in a structured environment.

    This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with experience in severe mental illness, substance use disorders, and inpatient or correctional settings.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct mental health evaluations, assessments, and crisis interventions
    • Provide ongoing treatment and follow-up care
    • Determine appropriate level of care and coordinate treatment disposition
    • Collaborate with reentry social workers for discharge planning
    • Develop and facilitate group therapy sessions
    • Participate in clinical supervision, case conferences, and treatment planning
    • Complete all required clinical documentation and reports
    • Coordinate care with institutional and correctional staff
    • Participate in mental health and medical rounds as assigned
    • Supervise interns or students when applicable

    Required Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or related field
    • Active New York State license (LMSW, LCSW, LMHC, or Psychologist)
    • Experience working with adult patients with behavioral health conditions
    • Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment skills
    • Ability to work in a correctional or highly structured environment

    Preferred Experience

    • Correctional health, inpatient psychiatry, or related clinical settings
    • Experience treating severe mental illness and substance use disorders
