    Job Summary:
    The Risk Underwriter is tasked with managing risk acceptance for individual employee applicants, primarily through reviewing medical evidence of insurability, minimizing anti-selection risk, and ensuring a positive customer experience. Responsibilities include clear communication, efficient time management, application of underwriting guidelines, and participation in department-level projects.

    • Communication & Customer Service:
      • Clear expression of ideas in both written and oral communications.
      • Providing excellent customer service to external customers and partners.
      • Sharing information openly and offering support to colleagues.
    • Time Management & Workload Flexibility:
      • Demonstrating strong time management skills.
      • Efficiently managing and flexing workload based on team needs.
    • Underwriting Knowledge & Skills:
      • Basic understanding of group products, contract language, and risk analysis.
      • Applying underwriting guidelines to analyze medical information and make risk decisions.
    Skills and Background You'll Need:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
    • Medical underwriting experience preferred.
    • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
    • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members and external contacts.
    • Proficiency in Lean Management System (LMS) is a plus.

    Ability to work remotely is a requirement of the role, with the ability to travel 1-2 times annually.

    Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.
    • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
    Salary Range:
