The Role:
Our facility in Billerica, MA is seeking a Sr. Process Engineer to provide daily engineering support to their primary work center(s) of responsibility.
The primary focus of this position is to ensure daily process control of the associated products & process equipment of filter manufacturing while identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
In addition to the daily support of the primary work center(s) assigned, this individual will be assigned specific short-term projects to manage that are associated with other product lines as workload allows.
What You'll Do:
Process Optimization:
Identification and implementation of cycle time and yield improvement activities
Process Documentation:
Maintain process documentation - operating procedures, test specifications, test methods, component drawings, etc
Process Training:
Assist in providing process training to direct labor forcePerform routine defect analysis and implementation of corrective actionsAssist R&D in process development activities associated with new productsParticipate actively in the NPD process and coordinate the transfer of new products into manufacturingMaintain process capacity models: Identify capacity constraints, capital equipment needs, and implementation of process optimization activities
Analyze Customer Returns:
Provide root cause analysis and timely corrective actions as appropriateCandidate will take the lead in developing and implementing process improvement activities; activities will typically include:Design and fabrication of improved process toolingDevelopment of test protocols for evaluating proposed process changesQualification of new toolsExecution of test protocols in conjunction with production supervision, quality engineering and direct labor personnel
What We Seek:
BS in Chemical or Mechanical EngineeringMinimum of 5 years related process-engineering experienceExperience working in a Lean/Six Sigma environmentCandidate must demonstrate proven hands on problem solving skills to provide sound decision making using good engineering practices as the basis for such decisionsAbility to work with a diverse team in terms of background and skill sets to achieve greater levels of efficiency and manufacturing robustnessAbility to manage time and balance short term needs of day-to-day production environment with long term project deliverables and timelinesEmbody a sense of ownership and passion of the process and drive improvements through creative solutionsDevelop and help implement the future state of manufacturing excellence in our factoryAbility to apply SPC, DOE, Lean/Six Sigma, mathematics and statistics to solve complex manufacturing process problemsHands on experience troubleshooting production toolsHighly self-motivated and self directed
