    Senior Environmental Planner position with NEPA Experience - Colorado, Maryland, Virginia, Vermont, New York, North Carolina, or Maine

    BizFirst is assisting our client with the search for an experienced Senior Environmental Planner to join our client's team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in managing environmental review processes and ensuring compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) for construction projects. Our client is an established environmental consulting firm with nationwide operations and expertise in NEPA compliance, environmental assessments, and working with Tribal entities on development projects. The candidate must be willing to work on-site within one of the following states: Colorado, Maryland, Virginia, Vermont, New York, North Carolina, or Maine

    Responsibilities

    • Manage the NEPA process from initiation to completion, including preparing Environmental Impact Statements (EISs), Environmental Assessments (EAs), and Categorical Exclusions (CEs)
    • Coordinate with project teams, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to gather data and ensure compliance with environmental regulations
    • Conduct environmental analyses, including impact assessments, mitigation planning, and alternative evaluations
    • Develop and implement public involvement and consultation strategies, including Tribal consultation protocols
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff members
    • Ensure high-quality written documentation and effective communication of findings and recommendations

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental planning and NEPA compliance
    • Proven expertise in preparing NEPA documents (EISs, EAs, CEs) and conducting environmental analyses
    • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
    • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
    • Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations, policies, and guidelines
    • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Urban Planning, or a related field; Master's degree preferred

    Preferred Qualifications

    • At least 3 years of experience working directly with federally recognized Tribal entities, Tribal health systems, or Tribal cultural programs
