    We have an exciting opportunity for a Shipfitter in Newport News

    Job Duties entail but are not limited to:

    • Multi-Pass Tack Welding
    • Burning-Oxygen/Propane Burning Torch.
    • Heating-Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch
    • Ability to comprehend complex structural assembly drawings, blueprints, and sketches to include weld symbols, material types, datum and reference lines
    • Comprehend fractional dimensions as with the use of a ruler
    • Layoff piece parts for fabrication and assembly
    • Assemble structural piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner
    • Experience working in a physically demanding environment (shipbuilding, steel fabrication, etc.)
    • Familiarity with OSHA regulations relative to the shipbuilding industry
    • Use vibratory tools (grinders and needle guns)
    • Air Carbon Arc Gouging
    • Ability to use Work Packages and Drawings to plan and execute work
    • Ability to use Molded Lines and Ship Reference Lines to execute required work
    • Erect, Set and Makeup Complex-shaped Shell Plates, Decks, Bulkheads, Longitudinals, trunks, etc.
    • Install and Replace Hull Inserts and Penetrations, Ability to Install Miscellaneous and Complex Foundations.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum of 8 years of experience working as a Shipfitter
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Must pass background check
    • Should be able to work with minimal or no supervision as well as in a team environment
    • Must have a high school diploma and relevant prior experience.

    Schedule:

    • Monday-Saturday 6am-4:30pm

    Pay:
    * $26/hour Plus $110 Per Diem
