    About the Job

    This is an Adjunct Instructor appointment in the Psychology Program at the University of the District of Columbia. The position involves teaching core undergraduate courses in Psychology and possessing expertise in psychological theory, research methodology, and/or experimental design.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Teach undergraduate courses in Psychology, including Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods, Experimental Psychology, or other related courses.
    • Stay current with developments in instructional areas by reading literature, collaborating with colleagues, participating in conferences, and designing online materials.
    • Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom instruction and discussions.
    • Evaluate and grade students' work using rubrics and student-centered approaches.
    • Maintain student records, grades, and other required documents.
    • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours for advising and assisting students.
    • Collaborate with colleagues on teaching and research issues.
    • Use software and technology effectively in the classroom.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • A Ph.D. in Psychology from an APA accredited program and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and research.
    • A minimum of two years of teaching Psychology courses at the college/university level, with graduate teaching assistant experience considered.
    • Demonstrated evidence of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at discipline-related conferences.
    • Evidence of working with underserved populations in the classroom and community.
    • Demonstrated record of collaborating with faculty colleagues through program, college, and university activities.
