    Civil Engineer

    • Assists with project scoping, budgeting and scheduling, completion of project design, and client communication.
    • Applies general civil engineering design techniques and principles on a variety of both public and private water and wastewater projects.
    • Prepares reports, engineering computations, hydraulic modeling, development review of plans as well as technical specifications.
    • Prepares contract documents and estimates.
    • Assists with construction phase services including bidding coordination, contract document approval, construction administration services, coordinates with contractor, and performs construction observation.
    • Uses AutoCAD - and Civil 3D for use in preparing engineering and design drawings.

    TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE:
    • CAD design: 2 years;
    • Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D; 2+ years CAD design experience, preferred;
    • Proficient with recent versions of software applications used by the company; AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite;
    • Must possess good problem-solving skills and able to work well in a team environment;
    • Exhibit self-initiative and independence on day to day basis;
    • Excellent proofing and editing skills;
    • Ability to think and visualize in three dimensions;
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff members and clients.
    • Advanced computer and internet skills;
    • Experience with water, wastewater plant design, storage facilities, pump/ lift stations, sewage collection systems, distribution systems, street/road and drainage, preferred; and
    • 2+ years' experience in water/wastewater, preferred.
    EDUCATION:
    • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college or university;
    • Master's degree in civil engineering, or another applicable field of engineering, from an accredited four-year college or university, preferred; and
    • 2+ years of experience in applicable engineering field, preferred.
    CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:
    • Active Engineer in Training (EIT) licensure for the State of Texas or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
    • Valid Texas Class C driver's license with a satisfactory driving record for the past three (3) years.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • None
    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL EFFORTS:
    • Minimum to frequent travel between sites is required.
    • Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment.
    • Capability of working in an outdoor environment with temperatures ranging from 32 degrees to 100+ degrees to observe work progress on construction projects.
    • Capability to work partially in the field where may occasionally be exposed to loud noise levels, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace.
    • May be required to walk on traverse terrain typical of a construction site.
    • Climb steep steps and/or ladders (50 ft in height), and other temporary or construction access points.
    • Drive 50 miles or more per day to job sites or client offices.
    • Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen.
    • Hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups or over the telephone.
    • Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.
    • Capabilities to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information.
    • Capability of occasionally lifting, carrying and/or moving an object weighing up to 75 lbs.
