- The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is a field position.
- SSHO's will need to travel and work at various jobsites along the eastern seaboard of the United States.
- The SSHO has safety, health, and environmental management responsibility for ensuring a safe work environment at his/her project site.
- The SSHO is responsible for performing safety walkthroughs to assess and mitigate risk aboard our various dredges, tugs, barges and other marine equipment.
- Should an accident or injury occur, the SSHO should be able to perform an accurate and thorough investigation.
- Must be able to interpret, evaluate, and provide technical guidance on project safety requirements including fall protection, confined space entry, materials handling, welding, marine operations, electrical safety and other topics.
- The SSHO should design and implement corrective measures to mitigate known hazards.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA, USCG and Army COE safety, health and environmental requirements.
