    Department Summary:

    The N112 Special Projects Department works as trusted advisors with its government sponsors across space warfighting, acquisition, and other mission partners as they architect system integration efforts to successfully incorporate new technologies and software applications in support of a resilient space enterprise infrastructure, sensing, and an integrated C2 system.

    Additionally, N112 performs numerous sensing experiments and prototyping activities including class-leading modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities designed to enable MITRE and sponsor-driven analysis and research in all space mission domains across multiple customers, missions, and technology providers.

    The research, development, and outcomes of these efforts provide high-quality, comprehensive, quantitative insights for senior government decision makers shaping the future of our nation's Space policy, operations, and systems.


    Roles & Responsibilities:
    The technical work areas you will apply your skills to include:Architect and implement DevSecOps processes and solutions to automate software delivery into a cloud-based infrastructure while ensuring the security of products and compliance with government standardsDevelop a cloud computing roadmap to implement the sponsor's vision by aligning efforts across a broad stakeholder baseLead efforts and develop strategies to scale efforts which integrate cyber operations capabilities with space mission systemsProvide thought leadership and technical guidance in the domains of digital transformation and modern AWS cloud capabilities acquisition to successfully transform and achieve highly scalable, resilient, and effective required systems capabilitiesClosely collaborate with cross-functional team members across multiple organizations and companies in a "badgeless" team environment to understand business requirements and translate them into robust architectural designsPartner with project leadership to engage with sponsors and bring an independent and differentiated perspective from other MITRE experts that maximizes sponsor value; ensure technical integrity and quality of products and deliverables; partner with the project leader for strategic work-shaping and executing senior sponsor relationship managementParticipate in decision making with government leadership to guide technical investments, strategic initiatives, supporting infrastructure, and development of project staff skillsDuties will be performed on-site while collocated with sponsor in Colorado Springs, CO

    Basic Qualifications:

    Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 8 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 5 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

    BS, MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field.

    Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

    Active DoD Top Secret and be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance.

    Deep understanding of state of the industry approaches to migrating to cloud architecture and management grounded in solid Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.10 years of hands-on experience, with technical depth and leadership in Software Architecture and DevSecOps/DevOps, with any mix of the following experience: systems engineering, IT/hardware/IaaS, CI/CD pipeline, cATO and DoD software acquisition pathway.

    Experience developing solutions to support cyber operations or space operations (both preferred)


    Deep understanding of cloud-based infrastructure, including experience implementing solutions on Amazon's AWSDeep understanding of networking and network protocols.10 years hands on software development experience including coding in C++, Python, Rust, or Go.

    Effective at developing close working relationships with senior leaders and sponsors as a trusted adviser for the leadership on major initiatives, technical challenges, and priorities.

    Strong interpersonal skills to effectively participate as a member of multi-disciplinary teamsStrong ability to frame and articulate difficult and/or complex technical problems and concepts clearly and simply in a systems engineering contextCan work independently without requiring guidance to address complex situationsServe as a mentor and foster a culture of technical creativity and mission impact, including but not limited to collaborating across MITRE to provide cross-cutting and impactful solutionsStrong communication skills, both written and verbalThis position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-sitePreferred Qualifications:
    Recognized expert in at least one of the following areas: Software Architecture, AWS Cloud, DevOps/DevSecOps, Defensive Cyber Operations with broad experience in developing high-impact solutionsFamiliarity with related government partner missionsDeep understanding of cloud-based infrastructure, including experience implementing solutions on Microsoft's AzureMS/PhD in a computer science field and 10 years of related experienceTS/SCI level security clearance with program access eligibilityThis requisition requires the candidate to have a minimum of the following clearance(s):Top Secret/SCIThis requisition requires the hired candidate to have or obtain, within one year from the date of hire, the following clearance(s):Top SecretSalary compensation range and midpoint:$157,000 - $196,000 - $235,000 Annual
