- Preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment including pneumatic controls, valves, thermostats, all air handling equipment, chemical and water circulating pumps, ventilating fans, refrigeration equipment, such as walk in coolers and freezers, window and portable AC units, chillers and cooling towers.
- Troubleshooting mechanical and HVAC problems that arise on campus
- Purchasing and installing equipment
- Perform equipment repairs by conducting tests to determine problem; designing solution; replacing parts; and welding or brazing connections
- Clean and maintain boilers such as Weil Mclain boilers
- Maintain inventory
- Maintain equipment rooms
- Assist with training and supervision of student workers and other mechanics
- Prefer at least 10-15 years of HVAC service
- Journeyman with industrial and commercial background
- Refrigerant license preferred or the ability to acquire one
- Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems and component interactions
- Pipe fitting experience preferred
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Physically able to work in various environments without adverse physical reaction
