    The role of the Personal Care Aide is to provide assistance with care to residents residing in the personal care facility. Overall performance is to be in accordance with the policies, procedures, and Mission and the Core Values of Fellowship Community.


    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS / CREDENTIALS:

    • Must be able to perform essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of this position satisfactorily
    • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Must have computer skills at an intermediate level.
    • Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English
    • Knowledge of the special needs and care requirements of geriatric residents
    • Knowledge of medical terminology
    • Willing to be flexible to meet the needs of the organization
    • Works well with others in a positive and cooperative manner
    • Work performance reflects the essential elements of Fellowship Community's Core Values
    • Successful completion of Fellowship Community Orientation
    • Meets the requirements of the Pre-hire Assessment

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assists with the serving of food in the dining room and assists residents as assigned.
    • Attends ongoing In-service/ Training per the direction of the Education Director or Nursing Supervisor.
    • Showers, dresses, undresses, and toilets residents as scheduled.
    • Answers resident Call-bells or intercom system to determine residents' needs.
    • Transports residents or assists residents to ambulate per the direction of Restorative/ Therapy/ Director of Resident Care or Nursing Supervisor, for the promotion of good mobility.
    • Turns and repositions residents who may be temporarily in bed due to illness and performs 'Q 15-minute checks' on those with safety concerns or sensor alarms or Secure Care Bracelets.
    • Changes bed linens, puts laundry away, runs errands, and directs visitors as needed.
    • Takes temperature or blood pressure if training has been done, and per the request of Team Leader, Director of Resident Care, or Nursing Supervisor.
    • Performs all tasks completely as outlined in the PCA assignment book. This includes reviewing the treatment book and performing and then initialing the doctor-ordered treatments, at the direction of the Team Leader, Director of Resident Care, or Nursing Supervisor.
    • Follows established infection control and OSHA guidelines in accordance with facility's policies and procedures.
    • Ensures that each resident is provided privacy and knocks before entering resident's room.
    • Treats all residents fairly and with kindness, dignity, and respect.
    • Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis.
