Valar Atomics is a startup in El Segundo, CA. We aim to synthesize liquid hydrocarbon fuels using process heat from nuclear fission, unlocking the potential of fission to make abundant carbon-neutral energy.

We're hiring a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design parts for our nuclear reactors.

Responsibilities

You will design and model parts and assemblies with CAD tools to satisfy specifications laid out by our Nuclear and Thermal Hydraulics engineers. You'll draw on a vast knowledge of materials, and work closely with our machinists and suppliers to ensure parts are manufacturable and perform on-goal.

As our first mechanical engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in establishing our engineering culture, and you'll assist in hiring and manager other mechanical engineers as our team grows.

You will report to the Director of Engineering.

Qualifications

A desire to make a future where energy is clean and abundant.

High skill level with CAD.

Experience with high-temperature alloys and ceramics.

Exceptional attention to detail.

This is a full-time position at our headquarters in the Los Angeles area, with salary and equity dependent upon experience.
