    Job DescriptionThe Director, Industrial Engineering (IE)will be a key member of the New Product Introduction (NPI) Manufacturing Operations leadership team with broad responsibilities including developing a vision and strategy for IE within Intuitive, hire, coach and mentor IE Managers and team members, foster a continuous improvement culture, while partnering with cross functional people within process engineering and global operations ( planning, supply chain and logistics) making progress towards excellence in execution in development and manufacturing high quality, minimally invasive robotic surgical equipment.

    Proven leadership experience building and developing high performing Industrial or manufacturing engineering teams is required.

    Manage, coach & mentor a high-performing IE team while also setting performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and identify training needs to enhance the skills and knowledge of team membersReview production data, performance metrics, and operational parameters to identify trends, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement.

    Make data-driven recommendations to optimize cycle time, cost, productivity, and overall factory performanceAid in the development and maintenance and automation of manufacturing capacity modelsPartner with COE team to help digital manufacturing transformation strategy and recommend solutions and resources needed to execute and deliver on projectsFoster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting lean manufacturing methods, driving waste reduction initiatives, and implementing best practices across the factoryEncourage employee involvement and engagement in process improvement activitiesIdentify opportunities for process improvement, evaluate existing workflows through value stream mapping and develop strategies to enhance OEE/OLE, and increase throughput and capacityPlan, coordinate, and oversee IE deliverables for NPI projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to high quality standards.

    This includes defining project deliverables, setting priorities, allocating resources, and managing project timelinesImplement and oversee the automation of models, such as equipment capacity and headcount planning.

    Leverage advanced data analytics and machine learning techniques to improve decision-making and operational efficiencyHead cross-functional teams to design and optimize the layout of factories, equipment, workstations, and production lines.

    Develop and drive factory blueprinting for consistent replication regionally and ensure efficient utilization of space and resourcesDevelop and maintain comprehensive documentation of manufacturing processes, standard operating procedures (SOP), and work instructions (WI).

    Ensure consistent implementation and adherence to established proceduresDevelop expertise in the organization around core industrial engineering methods such as factory design, labor capacity planning, line stabilizing, value stream mapping, time study research, production cell design, process and material flow optimization, lean/ Six Sigma and data analytics through structured programs and initiativesDevelop system level expertise for IEs in SAP- S4, SAP ME, Agile, O9 and other business systems within IntuitiveQualificationsQualifications And RequirementsBachelor's or master's degree in industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering or a related field.15+ years' experience in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering roles within a regulated industry.

    Experience in medium to high volume manufacturing operations.
    Proficiency in data analysis and statistical tools.
    Familiarity with process simulation software, optimization tools, and manufacturing execution systems (SAP ME preferred) required.
    Experience in new facility design and expertise in efficient production line layouts required.
    Experience in implementing a Lean/CI culture, Six Sigma methodologies, and other process improvement frameworks.
    Knowledge of smart manufacturing rules, methodologies, and emerging technologies.
    A solid technical foundation in medical device manufacturing is preferred.
    Lean Six sigma black belt certification and c practicing LSS values preferred.
    Experience setting up and driving improvements in OEE/ OLE/ Process capability and other factory performance metrics.
    Working knowledge of equipment qualification and process validation in a medical device environment preferred.
    Proven track record in successfully managing complex engineering projects from initiation to completion.
    Problem-solving abilities with a data-driven mindset.
    Travel25% is required to other manufacturing sites within Intuitive.
