    Business Systems Analyst

     

    About the Role

    The Business Systems Analyst plays a key role in planning, designing, developing, and launching efficient business, financial, and operations systems to support core organizational functions and processes. This involves gathering and analyzing data to inform business cases, proposed projects, process knowledge, and systems requirements.

    This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to maximize the benefit of IT system investments and assist in implementing new business applications.

    Main Responsibilities

    • Meet with stakeholders, Technology Product Owners, Solution Architects, System Analysts, and end-users to define business requirements and systems goals, identify, and resolve systems issues.
    • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and technical specifications in collaboration with the Technology Product Owner, Solution Architect, and System Analysts.
    • Facilitate design sessions for prototyping new systems to enhance business processes, operations, and information/data process flow.
    • Manage IT projects and provide high-level estimates of project effort and cost.
    • Regularly report project status to Business Stakeholders and Technology Product Owner.
    • Ensure that functional business requirements are fully met by the technology solution.
    • Interview business end-users to determine how effectively IT systems support their needs for efficient job performance.
    • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improvement or further leveraging these systems.
    • Participate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
    • Document existing business processes to define current business activities for procedure development and modeling.
    • Prototype new procedures to enhance business processes, operations, and information process flow.
    • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives addressing existing and potential trouble areas in operating systems across the organization.
    • Create system design proposals in collaboration with the Technology Product Owners and Solution Architects.
    • Evaluate compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
    • Create systems models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to guide system analysts.
    • Lead and perform testing (unit, system, regression, integration, and UAT) and software validation activities for new system implementations and existing system enhancements.
    • Stay up-to-date on assigned business area products and processes as well as strategic direction.
    • Collaborate with the entire IT staff to develop and deploy technology solutions.
    • Develop and maintain training materials and user guides to assist end-users in efficiently using implemented technology to perform expected responsibilities.
    • Analyze and write custom reporting using various report writing tools.
    • Assist with day-to-day support of assigned technology and other business applications.
    • Understand and implement ISO-related requirements for information systems.
    • Bridge any communication gaps between non-technical users and technical staff.
    • Provide guidance and instruction to junior staff members.

    Requirements

    • Bachelor's Degree in a related field from an accredited institution required.
    • 2+ years' experience in the Medical Device Industry highly desired.
    • 5+ years' experience in business analysis and project management.
    • 3+ years working in a manufacturing/engineering global organization.
    • 3+ years' experience with ERP class systems and enterprise integration methods, including full lifecycle implementation and configuration.
    • 3+ years' experience in business process improvement in a manufacturing company.
    • 3+ years of experience with data management and business intelligence applications.
    • Strong understanding of information technology and its application to business issues.
    • Proven experience in the operation and analysis of database software, standards, and data retrieval and reporting applications.
    • Experience with SDLC and agile methodologies.
    • Project management experience.
    • Demonstrated experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale IT projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel and third parties.
    • Ability to analyze project needs and determine resources needed to meet objectives.
    • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business process modeling/mapping, methodology development, and data modeling.
    • Proven experience in the operation and analysis of database hardware, software, and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies and client-server applications.
    • Ability to create training material and deliver training.
    • Knowledge of system and software quality assurance best practices and methodologies.
